Take seven clutch bags

OK ladies, clutch bags are ‘in’ this season. Open any fashion magazine and there’ll be a picture of one celebrity or another holding onto her fave clutch. The perfect evening accessory for a posh dinner or a night out on the town, a clutch will give you the ‘glitz’ factor to die for. We’ve saved you all the hard work and scoured the high street to find just the right little numbers to keep you company through the autumn.

Peacocks
This is the shop that’s become a haven for lovers of all things cheap, cheerful and funky. When it comes to accessories, they can do no wrong as they follow all the latest trends on the catwalk and bring them straight to the high street. This PVC clutch has just the right edge to look fashionable without being too over the top. And with drawstring detail and a big round clasp, it’s got a real vintage edge to it.

Bershka
Oh yes. This is one hardcore clutch that simply screams 80s rock chick glamour. Black patent with snakeskin detail, you’ll definitely get noticed with this one. OK, it’s so hard and chunky that you may feel a bit like your holding onto a kid’s pencil case, but hey, you can decide for yourself between functionality and style. I shamelessly opt for the later!

Jasper Conran at Debenhams
This puts the ‘voom’ into ‘va va voom’. In pink satin it’s one to really jazz up the winter wardrobe. The clasp is a great detail as gold is coming back into fashion and matches perfectly with all the dark colours around. The bag also comes in an olive colour for those who wish to make everyone green with envy as you walk into a crowded room. And remember, wear with a simple black outfit to avoid looking like Dame Edna Everage.

Topshop
Adored for over a decade by style queen Gwen Stefani, and spotted just a few weeks ago on absolute fashionista Kate Moss, leopard print is the thing to be seen in this season. As a self-confessed lover of all things printed and animal inspired, this would be the very first bag I would reach for whether day or night. Hands up, it’s my favourite and with a detachable metal strap, it can be worn any way you wish. Go on, bring out your wild side and make others roar at the very sight of you.

Parfois
Oh is this cute or what? With over 30 bags in my precious collection, I’ve never come across one with a little pocket to hold a detachable purse. Not only does it save rummaging for your spare change, it’s also fabulously unique. And the good news doesn’t end there. It comes in black and white too, which means your pretty much sorted whatever your taste.
Price: £14.50

Mango
‘I love mango,’ says model Mila Jovovitch in the shop’s new advertising campaign. ‘And I love mango to,’ say I, especially when I came across this little bag. It absolutely oozes Victorian style and glamour, which proved a huge hit in the recent London Fashion week. OK, so we can’t all carry off the look like the so very gorgeous models can, but team up this clutch with a ruffled white shirt, a fitted waistcoat and pinstripe trousers and rest assured you’ll be turning heads.
Price: £21.90

Miss Sixty
Never have my eyes seen a bag so bright that it took a while to adjust to this one. But I’m a strong believer in all things bright and beautiful so this is for those of you who desperately want to add BLING to your wardrobe. Just think Beyonc? meets Jennifer Lopez at the MTV Music Awards and you’ll definitely get the picture. And for all those who may say it’s a tad too much on the flash/tacky side, I say ‘Heelloo it’s Miss Sixty and this Italian fashion giant does no wrong OK?’ Diamonds (even fake ones) are a girl’s best friend!
