Dangerous products recalled

TWO NEW products have been withdrawn from the Cyprus market after the Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products [RAPEX] sounded the alert yesterday.

The first product is a circular saw named “STRAUS AUSTRIA”, made in China; Type/model: ST/CS 185D-824.

Consumers have been warned that due to their substandard manufacturing, there is a serious risk of electric shock and injury.

An electric shock because the internal wires and their protecting tubes are not fixed thus they can get into contact with moving parts and get damaged, and injuries due to the permanent deformation of the cutting wedge.

The second product was a Mini motorbike called Pocket-Bike XRC, the origin of which is unknown. Type/ model: XRC-1 050900008.

This product poses a risk of injury due to insufficient guarding of chain and sharp edges of chain guard; isolated wire of stop button can contact exhaust pipe; there are no means of signalling; it is possible to start machinery without key by unauthorised persons; insufficient user manual, marking and warning information. The product does not comply with the Machinery Directive.
