Man fined over £1,000 for string of traffic offences

A 24-YEAR-old man from Dhekelia has been fined £1,056 over a series of traffic offences.

According to British Bases spokesman, Captain Crispin Coates, “the Cypriot male was convicted following an operation by Sovereign Base Area (SBA) police officers to arrest him. The operation took place on Waterloo Road in the Dhekelia Garrison Area.”

Coates explained that the man pleaded guilty to careless driving and for failing to stop when requested to do so by a police officer.

Included in the total fine were outstanding traffic fines in his name
According to state radio, the man was driving through the SBA area to get to work in Larnaca.

“He has paid and apologised for his actions, with the case now closed,” said Coates.
