Turkey’s F1 miscalculation

Sir,
MR of Nicosia must be bursting with pride with the clever, original yet subtle stab he has managed to stick into our government (‘Talat’s F1 stunt’, Letters, August 30). I suppose they should have done nothing and just let this pathetic and desperate attempt at recognition to slide?

Turkey may well lose next year’s GP, which will be an immense financial loss and that is bad publicity for them and their political and economic aspirations.

But I suppose any publicity is good publicity, right?
Wrong.
