Men deny pimping woman in cabaret

THREE MEN yesterday pleaded not guilty to charges of pimping at a Nicosia cabaret.

All three men denied charges of prostituting a woman working at the Nicosia cabaret, which is owned by one of the defendants.

Nicosia CID and police officers had raided the cabaret on August 2 after obtaining a court order and went on to arrest the owner and manager of the establishment.

Police officers had instructed one of their informants to enter the cabaret and request to have sex with one of the women that works there.

According to police officers, the informant had paid £40 in marked bills to one of the defendants, who was working as a waiter at the cabaret, and police soon raided the premises catching the informant naked in a room with the Ukrainian woman.

Officers later found the same £40 they had given to the informant in the pocket of the waiter.
The waiter had been arrested the day before and was handed a five-day remand from another court.

The other two men were the owner and manager of the cabaret.

According to the woman, she would be paid £10 per night plus 50 cents commission from every drink a customer sitting with her would get, £10 for sex in the establishment and £35 for having sex with a customer out of the cabaret.

Both the owner and the manager of the cabaret, who were both present at the establishment at the time of the raid, denied any wrongdoing, telling officers that they had been unjustly kept at CID headquarters for questioning for so long.

Judge Nicos Yiapanas ordered that the trial begin on September 11, ruling that the waiter and the manager each hand in to the court £10,000 in cash as a guarantee that they would appear at their next court date, adding that their names be put on the stop list, they hand in their passports and ID cards and that they appear twice a week at their local police station.

Judge Yiapanas ordered that the cabaret owner not be placed on the stop list but that he hand to the court £15,000 that he would be present at his next court date.
