The Greenpeace vessel Rainbow Warrior is not, as reported yesterday, travelling to Lebanon from Cyprus to assist with the cleanup of the oil slick but rather only to deliver medicines to the humanitarian aid group Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF).

Greenpeace told the Cyprus Mail yesterday that the “primacy of the mission is to get aid to MSF” and that Greenpeace is not going to deal with the oil slick on this mission.

“What is required to deal with this oil slick is an immediate cease fire so that the international community, which is ready, willing, and able to assist the Lebanese government, can get in and do the job.” The vessel was still moored in Cyprus last night.
