New private clinic hopes to raise healthcare standards in Cyprus

NICOSIA’S NEWEST private clinic, Areteio, will begin operating gradually in August with great expectations and in the hope that by the beginning of September, all its departments will be in total operation.

Located in the Dasoupolis area of Strovolos, the clinic offers 70 bedsteads and 200 employees, out of which 50 will be doctors.

The Areteio hopes to offer modern medical care of high standards with a human approach and respect towards patients.

According to the clinic, modern medicine demands the constant upgrade of treating conditions. With the introduction of Cyprus into the EU, the need to create high standard medical centres, similar to other European institutions, has become greater.

It aims to offer high standard medical care, which will be characterised by quality, the use of modern methods and technology and teamwork among doctors of all specialities.

It will also offer medical services in specialised sectors that up until now haven’t been available in the Cypriot private sector, such as a blood dialysis unit, a brain stroke medical unit, a gastroenterology unit, a breast cancer unit, a paediatric unit and much more.

The clinic will be creating a research and educational foundation, the funding of which has already been settled and which will offer free treatment to patients suffering from multiple sclerosis.

The Areteio building is ecological with special sound and heat isolation. Even the air conditioning systems have been installed with special filters, to avert the transportation of germs and fungi from the outside.

Finally, the clinic’s founders promise the prices will be affordable to the public. “The philosophy of the Areteio is human-centred and is not centred on profits,” the clinic’s official press release read yesterday.

“Its aim is to cover its expenses and if there is any profit, then it will be invested in technology and medical equipment.”
