Monkey bites off girl’s fingers

AN 11-YEAR-old Russian girl nearly lost two fingers on Wednesday evening after being bitten by a monkey on an Animal Ranch in Mouttayiaka. A similar incident at the same ranch, in April 2000, cost a little Cypriot girl two fingers.
The 11-year-old, who is living in Cyprus permanently with her family, was rushed to a private clinic by Ranch owner Nicos Charalambous.

Her index and middle fingers were almost completely cut off. She was immediately taken into surgery were her fingers were sewn back on.

According to the doctors who treated her, the next three days are critical as they will determine whether the reconstructed fingers will operate in the way they used to.
Charalambous told the press that while he was at his ranch, which was closed at the time, he heard someone crying so he ran towards the screams to find the little girl bleeding. The ranch owner stressed that at the time of the accident the monkey had been in its cage.

In the first accident, little Sophia Klovoulou had two fingers bitten off by one of his pet monkeys, which was again in its cage.

The Klovoulou family had demanded the monkey be operated in an attempt to locate Sophia’s fingers. The operation, however, proved futile.
