Fashion king Julien Macdonald pops into Limassol to launch new series

THE FASHION and media world converged on Limassol’s Olympia–Debenhams store yesterday to welcome world-famous fashion designer Julien Macdonald. The pint-sized fashionista was in Cyprus promoting his new spring-summer exclusive collection for Debenhams called ‘Star by Julien Macdonald’.

Decked in dark jeans, a black shirt and white blazer, Macdonald was welcomed and congratulated by Debenhmas’ chairman Nicos Shacolas and various other members of the Ermes Group for his outstanding collection of clothes, that have proved a hit with celebrities.

Julien Macdonald designs glamorous dresses and outfits for celebrities around the world.

Kylie Minogue entrusted him with her entire wardrobe for her World Tour a couple of years ago while Christina Aguilera, Beyonce Knowles and Britney Spears have also been dressed by the Welsh designer. And despite being pelted with a flour bomb in an anti-fur protest several weeks ago, socialite Paris Hilton is one of his closest celebrity friends even making an appearance in a couple fashion shows wearing Julien’s clothes.

Macdonald exploded into the fashion industry in 1997 when he was appointed by Karl Lagerfield to act as head knitwear designer for top label Chanel. The Star designer is also head designer for Givenchy.

Julien’s exclusive collection for Debenhams epitomises his signature style of glamour and high quality using luxurious fabrics and jewelled finishes across fashion, accessories, home and even children’s clothing.

U.S. starlet Paris Hilton (R) joins designer Julien Macdonald on stage following his fashion show held at the Freemason’s Hall in London on Tuesday, 14 February 2006.
