A 28-YEAR-old man from Bangladesh was found bleeding on the side of the road on Limassol’s coastal strip on Sunday night. He had been injured in the face with a sharp object during a brawl between a group of Sri Lankans and Bangladeshis, police said.

The 28-year-old asylum seeker was found bleeding at around 9pm and rushed to Limassol general hospital with two cuts to the face from a sharp object, as well as bruises and contusions on several parts of his body.

Apparently, the 28-year-old and a group of his friends were verbally assaulted by a group of around 20 apparently drunk Sri Lankans, while taking a walk along the strip. Police said the argument soon turned physical, resulting in the victim’s injuries from an as yet undetermined object.

Police said various items found at the scene were taken in as evidence.
