Hotel thefts mar new year break

POLICE ARE investigating a string of hotel room thefts last Sunday in a Limassol hotel.

The first was reported by a 56-year-old foreigner who is currently visiting Cyprus, who told police that between 6.30pm and 8.10pm unknown person broke into his room and stole around £1,000 Sterling and around CY£680.

The second theft happened in the same hotel where a 63-year-old woman also visiting Cyprus reported that between 7.40pm and 8.25 pm last Sunday unknown persons broke into her room and stole around CY£150 and £170 Sterling.

Police also received reports of another theft in a Limassol hotel when a tourist told police that unknown persons broke into his room and stole from his travel bag around £500 and 5,000 Norwegian coronas.

A fourth theft occurred in a hotel in Paphos where a tourist told police that between 8pm and 10.30pm unknown persons broke into his room and stole a video camera worth around £200 Sterling, a gold engagement ring worth around £1,200 sterling pounds, a black wallet containing around £80, his mobile phone and a number of personal documents belonging to him and his wife.
