As l sit here on Tuesday morning having listened to the news, I am now reading my Cyprus Mail and feeling rather angry at some of the articles. When I reached page 15 (I’m dreaming of a green Christmas), I felt I needed to write this letter.

EU budget summit ‘crucial’ for Cyprus

PRESIDENT Tassos Papadopoulos said yesterday that Cyprus would work for improvements in the EU budget that would be for the benefit of the Cypriot people.

Referring to the new proposal by the British EU Presidency regarding the EU budget, he said it provided for a reduction of the allowances for some states, including Cyprus, and for an increase for other countries.

Emba teacher sued over incident with student

THE PARENTS of a 12-year-old gymnasium pupil, who allegedly groped his teacher during break time, are suing the school’s headmistress, acting principal and teacher for mistreating their son.

According to lawyer Michalakis Kyprianou, who is representing the family, the officials of the Apostolos Andreas gymnasium in Emba are being sued on both a personal and professional basis.

Representatives of the company this week met with lawyers in Cyprus and have apparently submitted an application to the Town Planning Authority of the Interior Ministry.
