Looking good with Ilia Georgiou

Which one are you?
Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston are all over the news at the moment. We show you how to recreate their looks

YOU may have noticed ‘Get The Look’ pages in magazines and, while in theory, it is a great way of informing readers which products are needed to re-create the make up in the accompanying photo, it is also a useful way of gleaning new ideas for your image. In practice it is a little different, as to recommend certain colours or textures, especially foundations, is impractical as everyone’s skin has a different hue.

I recently saw a ‘Get The Look’ page in a local magazine and was gob-smacked. A photo of an A list actress was accompanied by various products supposedly used to get the look, but they must have been randomly picked out of a lucky dip. The products, including all sorts of irrelevant skin care, nail varnish and colours could not have been more inaccurate if the writer’s life depended on it. My point? When you see a look in a magazine that you like, you need to decide whether your clothes, hair and colouring are suited to it and even then you may need to customise the look a little to suit your own needs and features. Another thing to remember is that what you see is usually all there is. There are no secret potions or a multitude of colours used, as sometimes seems the case, especially for around the eye area, where lots of products and colours are listed. I find the British magazines are the best at this concept, giving simple, honest and accurate information.

Here we have two different looks, one is rather “Femme Fatale” as befits Angelina very well, the other is a healthy summer glow, which is polished and dressy and the type of look that Jennifer both suits and often wears.

To achieve Angelina’s look, you’ll need a beige-toned, medium coverage foundation to match your own skin colour. Try Superfit Oil-free by Clinique and then apply a loose powder over it, such as Clinique Transparency 03. Alternatively use an all-in-one such as Max Factor Cr?me Puff.

For eyes you need a black eye pencil, such as those by Bourgois, L’Oreal or Guerlain and apply above upper lashes in a fifties style line except a little subtler, then soften the edge of the line using black or dark brown matt powder shadow and a short bristled brush – Make-Up For Ever have good brushes and matt eyeshadows. Apply a little black eye pencil to outer two thirds of inside of lower lid. False lashes have been applied to the outer upper part of Angelinas eyelids. If you wish to attempt this you can find good quality lashes at many pharmacies and department stores. Apply lots of black mascara such as Maybelline Great Lash, to upper lashes only, concentrating on outer lashes. Define brows using a colour that matches your own, try Shiseido pencils or Clinique brow powder for good believable brown tones. For cheeks, use a pale pastel pink rouge such as Givenchy Prism Again in Loving Pink 02, or Dior Blush in Tahiti Pink 919. For lips use the best lip plumping product you can get your hands on (Dior do one called Capture Sculpt 10 Re-plumping Emulsion)! Follow this with lip balm with a little pink lipstick mixed into it, such as Shiseido Perfecting Lipstick in P9 or S7 or Givenchy Essential lipstick in Feeling Pink 205.
Finally a confident sex siren attitude, a darned good photographer and a master in digital artwork are definite advantages to pull this look off!

For our Jen’s look (don’t you just love her?) you’ll need a bit of a tan, or just tell your superstar photographer to use warm yellow lighting! Alternatively, use a subtle bronzing gel such as Est?e Lauder Amber Bronze Liquid Bronzer and apply to face, neck and chest. Use Chanel Illuminating Eyeshadow in Delta no. 20 subtly on inner corners of eyes, over eyelids and a little rubbed onto apple of cheeks, chin and neck for a golden glow. For blush try Yves Saint Laurent Variation no.6 or their Bronzing Powder no.1.

For eyes, use a black liquid eyeliner or pencil to paint in the subtlest, thinnest line from inner to outer edge of upper lids as close to lashes as possible, then use a cotton bud to remove excess so that only the thinnest trace remains. Apply lots of natural effect mascara, such as L’Oreal Panoramic Curl or Estee Lauder More Than Mascara to upper lashes and a little to lower lashes.

For lips, the closest colours to Jen’s are Chanel Hydrabase Pulsion no.28 or Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Vibration no.5 with Clarins no.604 applied over the top of it to acquire a warmer tone and shimmer effect. Use a little of the Clarins lip shimmer on the cupids bow to make thin lips look fuller.

Use brown or dark brown eyebrow pencil, such as Est?e Lauder Artists Brow Pencil.
To complete your look, get your hair to look California Babe like, strike a sexy pose but avoid attempting the tongue thing as you may attract the wrong sort of attention.
