Cocktail of the week with Fabrizio Musorella

Singapore sling
A sling can be traced back to 1759. There are numerous recipes for slings so that even the oldest and most trusted sources do not agree on a single formula. The Singapore Sling was created at the Raffles Hotel in late 1915 by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. It was originally meant as a woman’s drink, hence the attractive pink colour. By 1930 this long and exotic cocktail had arrived in Europe and the United States and in the process the recipe changed to just gin, cherry brandy, fresh lemon juice and soda, the most common recipe found in bars today.
