Police hail seven-kilo cannabis haul

A 32-YEAR-old Limassol man was yesterday remanded in custody for eight days in connection with the possession of seven kilos of cannabis and a small quantity of cocaine and ecstasy.

The drugs were hidden in an old house in Limnatis, which was being rented by the 32-year-old painter.

Drug use in schools remains low

WITH drug use on the increase on the island, the use of drugs among pupils remains thankfully low, the government said yesterday.

Elderly arsonist says he started massive blaze to spite landowner

A 78-year-old man was yesterday arrested on suspicion of starting a large fire in an area near the village of Kyvides near Limassol.

The fire started at 10.45am and spread quickly with the wind’s assistance, destroying 15 hectares of trees, shrubs and vineyards.

CY in deal to offload Hellas Jet

CYPRUS Airways has signed an agreement with Air Miles of Greece for the commercial exploitation of Hellas Jet, its loss-making Greek subsidiary.
The memorandum of understanding includes a call option on Air Miles to acquire 51 per cent of Hellas Jet shares from Cyprus Airways, and for the Cypriot carrier to sell Air Miles its remaining 49 per cent, Cyprus Airways said in a statement.
