Consumer claims tribunal to offer swift solutions

THE Consumers’ Association yesterday welcomed the government’s decision to set up a consumer claims tribunal that would be tasked with settling disputes out of court.
The decision was announced by Trade and Industry Minister George Lillikas, who said the tribunal, expected to be up and running early next year, would swiftly settle claims of up to £3,000.

Tassos berates duty free strikers

PRESIDENT Tassos Papadopoulos was yesterday confronted by striking staff from the duty free shop at Larnaca airport as they waved placards at his passing motorcade on his way to catch a flight to Brussels.

Papadopoulos said the strike, which entered its fifth consecutive day yesterday, was “groundless and absurd” when asked about it inside the airport building.
