Jockeys in fight with conscripts

THREE conscripts serving at a post next to the Nicosia racetrack were injured on Tuesday evening after they got into a fight with jockeys.

The fight reportedly started after the soldiers made fun of a jockey who had been passing outside their post, next to the racetrack near the Ayios Dhometios checkpoint.
Reports said the conscripts made comments about the jockey’s clothes, though others said they made fun of the way he walked.

The jockey who apparently took offence, went to the stables, rounded up 20 or so colleagues with their whips and went back to ask for explanations.

The jockeys attacked and beat the handful of soldiers in the post at the time, injuring three of them.

They were treated in hospital and subsequently discharged, reports said.
But it seems that the incident ended there since police yesterday said they had not received any complaint from any side.
