We cannot ignore history

Sir,
Yes, romantic fools indeed. In my opinion, in order to live together, we
have to be accountable for our mistakes. We all know about the Armenian
massacre, or do we? How about the murders of the two young men in 1996? The Turks have one of the worst records in history. The English, well they’re just acting in everybody’s best interest like they keep telling us, and so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts (by the way we would like our ancient statues back) . We finally
come to the Greeks in this romantic novel, we still can’t figure out if the fighters of the 50s, 60s and 70s are freedom fighters or terrorists. If history is any indication of the future we’d better leave things alone, or let’s all be accountable for our mistakes, take your pick. But please let’s leave the romantics to the authors, for if we continue to ignore reality it will haunt us, and bloodshed will once again come to the island of Cyprus.
