Questions mount over German soccer sponsorship deal

QUESTIONS are increasingly being raised regarding a sponsorship deal for German football club FC Cologne and a “phantom” Cypriot company.

Last week, reports said a sponsorship deal had been struck up between FC Cologne and a company named Satena, which would see the team have the word ‘Cyprus’ emblazoned on their jerseys.

CANCER support groups are launching a campaign to increase awareness of breast cancer with an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest bra chain ever.

The Cancer Patients Support Group (CPSG) calls on all women (or men) to hand over as many unwanted bras as they can and help put Cyprus on the map as the land of the world’s longest bra chain.

Anger as Congress visit to north confirmed

THE GOVERNMENT said yesterday it could not see any rationale in comments by former US Cyprus envoy Thomas Weston on the planned visit by three American congressmen to the north next week.

Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said that any visit by foreign officials to the north was a violation of UN Security Council Resolutions.
