Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan made its first appearance during the 1980s in New York. Many believe this pink and seductive easy-drinking cocktail originated in the gay scene (mainly because of is pink hue). It is probably a variation of the classic Martini Cocktail. Exactly where or who first created it is still unknown. It was popularised in Sex and the City by avid fan Carrie Bradshaw, when she changed from always drinking a Martini to a Cosmo. The use of lime juice binds the ingredients together and gives a more refreshing taste.
Ingredients
5cl vodka
1.5cl Cointreau
1cl cranberry Juice
1cl fresh lime juice (or lemon)

Preparation
Always chill a cocktail glass in the freezer before use

Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake sharply for about five to six seconds

Strain into the glass and garnish if you wish with a wedge of lime

For an extra aroma cut a wide zest of orange and twist it over the drink and drop it inside
