Cocktail of the week with Fabrizio Musorella

Margarita
Tequila is the spirit of Mexico, the country where it is produced and where, in 1938 near Tijuana at his Rancho La Gloria restaurant, Carlos Herrera claimed to have created a cocktail and named it after young American actress Marjorie King (margarita is Mexican for Marjorie) who was allergic to every spirit but tequila. In July 1942 at Tommy’s Place in Juárez, bartender Francisco “Pancho” Morales also claimed that he mixed his first Margarita (instead of a Magnolia as asked), to satisfy the request of a female customer (can you guess her name?). Those are two of the many myths about the Margarita’s discovery that ranges from Mexico to California. Truly we will never know for certain who, where and when this fabulous cocktail was invented but we are grateful anyway!

Ingredients
3cl Silver Tequila
3cl Fresh lime (or lemon) juice
2cl Triple Sec (or Cointreau)

Preparation
Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of a margarita glass, dip the rim into a saucer of fine salt and place the glass in the freezer.
Pour all the ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake.
Strain into the glass and garnish with a wedge of lime. By rimming only half the glass with salt, you have the opportunity to enjoy it with or without salt.
