Perdikis fury at CyBC snub

GREEN Party leader, George Perdikis, has complained to the ombudswoman on behalf of one-seat parties in parliament after state broadcaster, CyBC, last December failed to show their speeches in full during discussions for the 2005 budgets in parliament.

After looking into the complaint, Ombudswoman Iliana Nicolaou concluded that CyBC showed gross negligence in the handling of the matter.

“With its stance, CyBC failed to act as an institutional guarantor of the right to the fullest possible information for citizens, on an important political and state public event, which is legally unacceptable and constitutionally forbidden.

CyBC’s excuse that they had technical and bureaucratic obstacles that didn’t allow the live broadcast of the speeches of the four deputies is equally perplexing, paradoxical and worrying.”
In a press release, Perdikes said he “expects the CyBC board of directors to at least apologise to the four deputies and make sure this situation is not repeated.”
