Man crushed by tractor

A 77-year-old yesterday died after being crushed by his tractor in a field near the village of Paralimni.

Relatives went out looking for the elderly man in the afternoon and found him unconscious, trapped under the tractor.

With the aid of the Fire Department, police extracted the man, who was rushed to Larnaca’s general hospital but had already succumbed to his injuries.

Police have ruled out foul play. According to a friend of the victim’s, the man must have mistakenly set the tractor in reverse before dismounting.
