Oxfam warns of fake fund-raising email with Cyprus bank account

OXFAM in Hong Kong has informed police and warned people to beware of fake fund-raising e-mails for tsunami victims, which direct donors to a bank account in Cyprus.

“An e-mail was sent to a friend of Oxfam yesterday and forwarded to us,” Albert Chan Ka-ming, fund-raising director of Oxfam Hong Kong told Reuters.

A SECOND mission of the Cypriot branch of the Doctors of the World arrived yesterday at the tsunami hit area of Galle in Sri Lanka, carrying 2.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid and medicines.

Man shot in armed robbery

POLICE were yesterday searching for two armed robbers who raided a co-op bank in Arediou village south of Nicosia at 8.10am yesterday, and shot man as they made their getaway.
