A GROUP of Bangladeshi men found themselves forced to leave their home last night after part of the wall of the mud brick house they rented in Nicosia’s old town came crashing down.

Supermarkets vow to step up their campaign

THE CYPRUS Hypermarket Association yesterday confirmed that the majority of hypermarkets which had violated their closing hours at the weekend had been fined.
Fifty hypermarkets, including Demos, E&S, Papantoniou, Chris Cash & Carry, Orphanides, Olympic, Sarris and SYK Anemos hypermarkets, stayed open from 7am to 7pm on Saturday and from 9am to 3pm on Sunday.

ANOTHER two teenagers lost their lives on the road at the weekend when their car veered out of control and crashed into concrete wall, before hitting a post-box. Three other youngsters in the car were being treated in hospital for injuries but were out of danger.

THE GOVERNMENT yesterday made a stark appeal to motorists to respect traffic laws or see more young lives wasted on the roads, after two teenagers were killed on Sunday, bringing the death toll on the roads so far this year to 105 – 20 more than for the same time last year.

Police yesterday blamed reckless speeding for the crash.
