Foreign residents battle for winter payout

First landmines destroyed near Nicosia airport

THE REMOVAL of the first landmines from the buffer zone dividing Cyprus took place yesterday as part of a year-long plan to clear thousands of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines laid by the Greek Cypriot National Guard in 1974.

Man held after horse doping substances found

A 49-YEAR-old Nicosia man was yesterday remanded in custody for four days in connection with possession and trafficking of controlled substances used for doping racehorses.
