How I wish the police had been there

Sir,
With so much coverage in your newspaper regarding penalty points, how I wish the police had been the vehicle behind the driver I followed this morning.

From the traffic lights at St Nicholas Church right onto Makarios Avenue in Limassol, this driver committed so many offences, his licence would have been thrown away forever, had the police caught him.

He first positioned his car across two lanes, so no-one was sure if he was going to turn left or go straight on. He went straight across, however, and proceeded to use his mobile phone, not once, but several times, right up to the roundabout at Curium. During this time, he wondered into the middle of the road and back again, leaving a gap large enough for two cars. He was not wearing a seat belt, and once we approached the Curium roundabout, he took the very right hand lane. As I proceeded up Makarios Avenue, I noticed he was within 1 or 2 inches of my car on the right hand side, as he also wanted to go up Makarios Avenue. He fell in behind me, but at the first opportunity, much to my amazement, he overtook me at considerable speed on a solid white line.

It seems no matter how much publicity is given to these offences, as long as there are no police around to enforce the law, there will always be one idiot who thinks he is beyond the law.
