Animal cruelty happens in the UK too
Sir,
You have always highlighted in your paper anything that makes big publicity about the cruelty to animals by any Cypriot.

Sir,
Bravo to Nitsa Roussot (letters to the Editor, September 19).I am in complete agreement with her comments and at times, particularly when unwillingly I find myself in the company of the whingeing expatriates, I feel ashamed to be British.
Sir,
My wife and I purchased a house in Kato Paphos a year ago — we love the island, the people and of course the weather.
Sir,
There is nothing wrong with 76 per cent of Greek Cypriots exercising their democratic rights, as long as those 76 per cent know that there are consequences for every action.
Some Greek Cypriots, however, believe that being EU citizens means that they can impose their own kind of solution and that the Turkish Cypriots would be foolish enough to accept as they as so poor.
Sir,
I am appalled to see the response to the balanced analysis made in Mr B.H. Lait’s article of September 5, in which be accurately tracked the escalation of supermarket retail prices in Cyprus post-EU accession.
Sir,
The misinformed remarks by Mr Xenophontos about Turkish Cypriots (‘Same old tune from most Turkish Cypriots’, letters to the editor, Sunday Mail, September 19) are not helpful in the present period where both communities are beginning to mix again.
Sir,
I feel I must reply to the angry letter from N Xenophontos of Larnaca.
I find it difficult to believe how a person who makes sweeping generalisations about a whole people based on their ethnicity could have ever been a race relations officer.
If we need to recruit people for similar posts in a future united Cyprus, please do not apply Mr Xenophontos!
Sir,
Referring to the headline in Thursday’s paper (‘Dire warning as tourism slumps’) I would like to raise a few points from a tourist perspective.
Sir,
The US State Departments’ recent “notification” regarding US arms deployed in the Republic of Cyprus is outrageous. The Turkish armed forces have been using US-made weapons to occupy the northern part of Cyprus, in violation of US laws since the invasion.
Sir,
I would like to react to the comments by Nitsa Roussot (Letters to the editor, September 19). I’ve been living in Cyprus now for over 10 years I come from Holland and a married with a Cypriot and have three kids.
The Cyprus Mail is the only English-language daily newspaper published in Cyprus. It was established in 1945 and today, with its popular and widely-read website, the Cyprus Mail is among the most trusted news sites in Cyprus. The newspaper is not affiliated with any political parties and has always striven to maintain its independence. Over the past 70-plus years, the Cyprus Mail, with a small dedicated team, has covered momentous events in Cyprus’ modern history, chronicling the last gasps of British colonial rule, Cyprus’ truncated independence, the coup and Turkish invasion, and the decades of negotiations to stitch the divided island back together, plus a myriad of scandals, murders, and human interests stories that capture the island and its -people. Observers describe it as politically conservative.
