Areeba signs roaming deal with CyTA

PRIVATE mobile phone service operator areeba has concluded a roaming deal with CyTA and expects to launch this weekend, reports said yesterday.
For the past month, the company has been operating a limited service to subscribers pending conclusion of the roaming agreements with the semi-government CyTA.

Areeba is the trade name of Scancom, the company which won a 20-year concession to operate Cyprus’ first private-sector mobile network in an auction last October. Scancom is owned by Investcom, an international telecoms group.

Areeba has said it will offer four packages, each adapted to meet the needs of individual users, and offer consumers the opportunity to make the most of their mobile phones.

With areeba 140, users will have a monthly fee of £4 with 140 free minutes talking time and 50 free SMS text messages. With areeba 350, users will pay £8 monthly rent, get 350 free minutes talking time and 100 free SMS.
The areeba 900 package will offer 900 minutes free talking time, 200 free SMS with a rent of £19. Areeba 1600 offers 1,600 free minutes talking time, 300 free SMS with a monthly fee of £29.

A call from areeba mobile to areeba mobile or landline costs 2.3 cents per minute (1.8 cents off peak). A call to CyTAmobile costs 3.2 cents per minute (2 cents off peak).

Areeba will also be offering a pay as you talk service. Users will be able to purchase cards of £4, £8 and £16.

For anyone wanting to sign up with areeba, the company has an agreement with Electroline and Hadjikyriacos and Sons Ltd, where they can get connected.
