Bomb blast injures one

A POWERFUL explosion rocked residents of a Limassol apartment block on Sunday, injuring one tenant and causing damage to five flats.

The makeshift bomb was placed at the door of a flat belonging to a 50-year old man on the sixth floor of an apartment block on the corner of Makarios and October 28
Avenues.

The device, laden with explosives, went off at 3am Sunday morning, causing extensive damage to the exterior of the five flats on the sixth floor as well as to the lift and the building in general. A 22-year-old Bulgarian neighbour was wounded in the leg and taken to Limassol Hospital where she was treated and released.

Three of the five tenants on the sixth floor were absent at the time, including the apparent target, the 50-year-old man.

According to press reports yesterday, police have not ruled out the possibility that it was a crime of passion.

The Limassol CID is investigating the case.
