22-year-old dies of injuries

A 22-YEAR-old man who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident last week died yesterday in Nicosia General Hospital.

Avgoustinos Kinas had sustained heavy injuries to the head last Thursday when the motorcycle on which he was a passenger slammed into a lorry parked on the side of the road. The motorcycle driver, Christodoulos Lantides, 21, died on the same day.

The accident occurred between the Linopetra and Yermasoyia roundabouts.

Police said the two men were riding on the hard shoulder of the motorway trying to avoid heavy traffic and apparently failed to see the lorry until it was too late.

Neither was wearing a crash helmet, police said.

They were both rushed to Limassol Hospital where Lantides died soon afterwards.

Kinas had been transferred to the Nicosia General with serious head injuries.
