Hitchins and OXI vote were correct

Sir,
I’M AN Aussie of Greek and part Cypriot background.

I have been to Cyprus four times and will be there again in August.

I try to read the Cyprus Mail of the net as much as I can and I admire your reporting, concise and to the point.

But I admire Christopher Hitchens very much. He is an excellent reporter.

I’m really sad that both sides didn’t say yes, but this Annan Plan was a pro-Turkish plan.
I know why it was changed five times; to appease the Turkish side.

The Turkish Government should realise that for long lasting peace in Cyprus there must be genuine sincerity.

All settlers must go home, although those married to Cypriot Turks can stay. The Turkish Army to go as well. Turkey has no rights here and the island to be a non militarised country. It must have a stronger federal system, with freedom of speech, religion etc.

The Turkish side must make genuine sacrifices. Everyone forgets that Cyprus was invaded and that there NEVER was a Greek or Turkish part, this was designed by Turkey.
