Winery doing the business

The winery of Aes Ambelis is back this year with a bigger selection of wines in its cellar and with some new interesting blends. Firstly, the good news: the winery is now complete and they accept visitors daily (on Sundays by appointment). As I wrote last year, the winery itself has one of the best designs that I have come across on the island.

Does Tassos really want peace?

I am beginning to wonder whether Tassos Papadopoulos really wants peace and reconciliation between the Greek and Turkish peoples of this island. Before long, his policies are going to drive him and the good Greek people into an abyss of political blunder.

How long will the tourists keep coming with these prices?

I have holidayed in Cyprus every year, some times twice a year, since 1986, visiting the same hotel in Paphos. Having just returned from holiday I am amazed at the lack of tourists in the town and on my visits to Limassol and Larnaca the situation seems the same. This drop is on top of the drop in 2003.

Cancer centre hits back at minister

THE CO-ORDINATING Committee of the Cancer Patients and Relatives of the Nicosia hospital’s Oncology Department yesterday lashed out at Health Minister Dina Akkelidou, for insisting that a new centre in Limassol would be better for the patients.
