POLITIS: “Christofias’ easy solution” In an unprecedented move, House President and AKEL leader Demetris Christofias launched an attack against the paper on Thursday. Referring to the report highlighting growing opposition to Interior Minister Andreas Christou over the issue of citizenship for children from mixed marriages in the north, Christofias charged the paper with attempting to undermine the party. Instead of his supporting his minister from members of the coalition government, he preferred to attack the paper.

The paper wrote that the issue was being used to draw the Interior Minister into an internal feud rocking the left-wing party. Christofias said he did not wish to deal with systematic undermining of the party and felt saddened that a paper could fall so low.
