Tassos taking us for a ride

Sir,
I do hate being taken for a fool. Your front-page story on Thursday quoted President Papadopoulos saying he “wanted a solution yesterday” and was “ready to re-negotiate whenever such an initiative is undertaken”. Undertaken by whom, may I ask?

Why doesn’t he either ‘put up or shut up’? If he really wants a solution it’s very simple: he announces clearly exactly what changes he wants to the Annan plan and himself undertakes the initiative to negotiate those changes. What is he waiting for?

Mouthing platitudes about “changes to the Annan plan” without saying what those changes should be is quite clearly nonsense and I’m amazed that he’s still getting away with it.

Clearly our leader feels that he can fool most of the people all of the time.

Where is the journalist (or politician) with what Patroclos would call the ‘cojones’ to put our President on the spot and demand straight answers?
