Online tax forms for the first time

FINANCE Minister Marcos Kyprianou launched the new on-line tax declaration service yesterday. The Inland Revenue now gives registered taxpayers the option of submitting their tax forms via the internet using the TAXISnet service.

Kyprianou noted that Cyprus was breaking relatively new ground in Europe by providing this service.

The minister said the new service was just the first step in using technology to the citizen’s benefit. The site can be accessed at taxisnet.mof.gov.cy.

The whole process of submitting tax declarations would now be more effective and easier, said Kyprianou.

Head of Inland Revenue George Pouffos said examination of electronic tax forms would be given priority and be completed within the year they are submitted. He added that the 24-hour service would save time and money for the citizen.

Pouffos added that taxpayers who wanted to use the service would have to fill out an application form obtained from the IR offices or website, and submit it to the Declarations Department along with a photocopy of their ID.
