Five-year-old boy injured in fire

A five-year-old boy yesterday suffered serious burns during an afternoon blaze at his home in Nicosia.

Police said the boy was rushed to hospital with third-degree burns all over his body after a fire at his Ayios Dhometios home. His condition was said to be critical.

The fire, which was put out by the fire service, caused extensive damage to the house.
Initial findings suggested it had been an accidental fire, police said.

Due to the seriousness of his condition, the five-year-old was transferred to the Makarios hospital.
