Tragedy averted in coffeeshop shooting

COFFEESHOP patrons at a Limassol village averted a possible tragedy on Saturday, when an enraged father sought payback for an insult on his teenage son.

The incident took place at the village of Ayia Fyla.

Apparently a customer at the coffeeshop told off a 16-year-old who had set fire to a dustbin. Villagers later told police that the youngster had a habit of such vandalism.
The teenager then apparently told his father what had happened. Arriving at the coffeeshop, the angry father brandished a shotgun and began shouting he would “sort out” the man who had insulted his son.

Patrons tried to disarm the father before the situation got out of hand, but he fired twice into the ground. In the end, the enraged man was wrestled to the ground. Police were called in to apprehend the man and investigate.
The teenager’s father was arrested, charged and later released.
