Don’t believe all you hear

YESTERDAY was the first day out for the island’s party leaders since their arrival in Burgenstock. All but AKEL leader Demtris Christofias and United Democrats leader George Vassiliou arrived at the hotel where the press corps is staying. Asked where Vassiliou was, one party leader said he was on a “secret mission”.

DISY leader Nicos Anastassiades pleaded with journalists not to take things so literally and report them as gospel, after an incident where a journalist was wrongly told on Thursday that Green Party leader George Perdikis and New Horizons leader Nicos Koutsou had been singing together with Turkish Cypriot ‘Prime Minister’ Mehmet Ali Talat.
