Latest competitor launches cut-rate call plan

PRIVATELY owned licensed fixed telephony operator CallSat Telecom yesterday unveiled its calling rates, which offer consumers reductions of up to 15 per cent on national calls and 60 per cent on international calls.

Speaking at a news conference, CallSat’s director Ayis Panaretos said reductions on local calls reach up to 15 per cent while calls to certain international destinations could cost up to 60 per cent.

Panaretos said the company aimed in offering quality and technologically developed services to business and household consumers.

The main advantages that would be enjoyed by CallSat subscribers are online billing and prepaid bills.

The latter provides consumers with the capability of setting a limit to their bill by prepaying a certain amount.

The online billing offers subscribers the potential of checking the bill throughout the month.
CallSat is the second privately owned licensed telephony company co-operating with Greece’s OTEGlobe to offer a wide array of services in Cyprus.

Through CallSat voice link, calls are routed through the company’s network without having to enter any prefixes.

The only thing needed is one application to CallSat and one to CyTA to route calls to the company’s network.

The service can be used only from fixed telephone lines.

With 1000 CallSat, subscribers enter the prefix 1000 just before placing a call from a fixed line or a mobile in order to use the network.

An application form is again needed to enable the service.

The company promises excellent voice quality, flat rates for destinations, no peak and off-peak charges, and itemised billing with several payment options.

Panaretos announced that the first 5,000 subscribers would enjoy a further 10 per cent reduction in international calls for a specific period.
