ALITHIA: “Talat and Denktash clash”. Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash and Turkish Cypriot ‘Prime Minister’ Mehmet Ali Talat are said to be on a collision course over the Annan plan, with Talat seeing it as deliverance for the Turkish Cypriot people, while Denktash sees it as its demise. In a news conference yesterday, Talat said telling someone to vote no in April’s referenda, was like telling them to commit suicide.

HARAVGHI: “Church sues”. The Archbishopric has filed suit against those who owe the Church large sums of money and have not settled their debts, the paper reports. According to the paper’s sources, the Archbishopric has contacted all its debtors through the investigative committee in order to settle their debts, or face a lawsuit.

SIMERINI: “A sovereign state in the north”. The Turks are working flat out to establish a sovereign state in the north based on the Annan plan, the paper reports. The Turkish side has already prepared the constitution of the Turkish Cypriot state, with a separate sovereignty, people and with the freedom to have diplomatic relations with the EU.

MACHI: “Dentkash’s fate lies in Ankara”. Ankara is to decide on whether Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denkash will attend next week’s four-way meeting, the paper reports. Reports from Ankara said Denktash would visit the Turkish capital on Monday where he would meet with the state leadership. The meeting is expected to determine Denktash’s future.

POLITIS: “17-year-old drug pusher”. Larnaca police believe a 17-year-old is behind a drug trafficking gang, selling drugs in schools around the coastal town, the paper reports. According to police, the boy, who has been arrested, was named by a 23-year-old waiter and another student who allegedly purchased drugs from him. The men are currently under police custody.

PHILELEFTHEROS: “Bank robbers were drug addicts”. Three men arrested on Monday for the attempted robbery of the Strovolos Co-op bank said they stole the money because they were drug addicts and needed to pay for their drugs. The men got away with £22,000 but then crashed into the Deputy Chief of Police’s car and were arrested shortly after.
