Denktash threatens to lead ‘no’ campaign

RAUF Denktash has said he would advise Turkish Cypriots to reject the Annan plan in the referendum if he came away from the current talks dissatisfied with the changes made. The veteran Turkish Cypriot leader was speaking in an interview with Turkish Cypriot television Bayrak late on Tuesday. “In its current shape the plan would mean our removal (from the island) in a short time,” Denktash said.

Belgian arrested after massive ecstasy haul

POLICE have arrested a 37-year-old Belgian man living in Larnaca after they found 768 ecstasy pills in his possession. At 9.45pm on Tuesday, the drug squad pulled over a car driven by the Belgian man and found he was holding a plastic bag containing 289 ecstasy pills. Searching his home, police then found another 479 ecstasy tablets and £1,330 in cash.
