ALITHIA: “Horror as niece burns her aunt alive”. A 22-year-old woman is said to have confessed to burning her 48-year-old aunt to death, the paper reports. Despina Nicolaou’s charred remains were found in a field on Sunday by hunters, just 200 metres from her house in Potamia village. The suspect was reported to have confessed to her crime to the CID late on Monday night, after evidence found on the scene led to her arrest.
HARAVGHI: “Pantani death unclear”.The autopsy into the death of Italian cyclist Marco Pantani, who was found dead in his hotel apartment on Saturday, revealed he had suffered a heart attack following severe swelling of the heart and brain. Pantani won the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia in 1998. The pathologist’s report, which refused to draw any firm conclusions, also said the Italian had lung damage.

According to the paper’s sources, the bombers had targeted Michalis Glykeriou, a man connected to several drug cases in the past.
POLITIS: “Potato farmers postpone measures”. Potato farmers have agreed to postpone their demonstrations in order to meet with political leaders. Representatives of the potato farmers’ association stormed out of an earlier meeting with Agriculture Minister Timis Efthymiou and threatened more protests of a greater scale than those carried out in December 2002.
PHILELEFTHEROS: “De Soto’s 20-member team”. United Nations Special Envoy Alvaro de Soto will be accompanied by a 20-member team of legal advisers that will assist him in the negotiations, the paper reports. According to the paper’s sources the team includes experts from the US, Britain, Holland and Belgium. De Soto visited Dublin on Monday and was to fly to Brussels yesterday to meet with Gunther Verheugen and Javier Solana.
