Monarch flight stops in Larnaca to offload unruly passenger

A MONARCH flight from Goa to Gatwick made an unscheduled landing at Larnaca airport on Sunday after an unruly passenger forced the captain to land.

An announcement from the airline said the passenger was behaving in a disruptive manner. It said that the passenger, whose nationality was not specified, was handed over to police and that the flight continued on its way to the UK.

Larnaca police said yesterday they had no information on the passenger while the Larnaca Airport manager said he had no information on the unscheduled landing by the Monarch aircraft.

The airline said its cabin crew had dealt with the situation calmly and professionally and said it would support the police in any prosecution.
