Probe into sales of drugs to doctors

HEALTH Minister Dina Akkelidou said yesterday an investigation into allegations of the sale of medicine from dealers directly to doctors was a breach of three articles of the relevant legislation.

She said the matter would be investigated by the police.
Akkelidou said the Ministry was investigating the claims by DIKO deputy Marios Matsakis that medicine was being sold at a higher rate to the state than to private doctors.

She said the state spends more than £4 million each year on pharmaceuticals.
“This is satisfactory and through our investigation we hope to prove that without a doubt the system works.”
