Electronic good
shop raided
POLICE are investigating the theft of tens of thousands of pounds worth of cameras, video cameras, mobile phones, laptops, electronic goods for cars and other electrical equipment from a shop in Nicosia.

The break-in occurred between 7.45am and 8.05am yesterday when two unidentified men stole the items worth between £30,000 and £40,000 from a shop on Athalassa Avenue.

Nine dogs stolen
DOG THIEVES have targeted the Larnaca district with a vengeance, with two pet owners reporting nine animals have been stolen, police said yesterday.

Giorgos Karagiorgis reported that four dogs were stolen from his farm in Dromolaxia sometime between 9pm on Thursday and 6.30am on Friday. The animals’ value is estimated at around £1,000, police said.

Meanwhile Costas Yiannakou reported that five dogs worth £2,000 were taken from his farm in Athienou village sometime between Thursday and Friday.
Kiti and Athienou police are investigating the thefts.

Jewel thieves strike
JEWELLERY worth nearly £15,000 has been stolen in two districts, police said yesterday.
Evangelos Paphitis reported that his home in Mazotos village in the Larnaca district had been broken into sometime between 6pm and 8.30pm on Friday. The burglars concentrated on the main bedroom and stole items of jewellery, most of which was more than 30 years old, and which was valued at £10,000.

In a similar incident on the same day, Lefki Antoniou lost £4,620 worth of jewellery in the space of 20 minutes. She told police thieves broke into her home in Ekali in the Limassol district sometime between 4.40pm and 5pm and stole three jewellery boxes from the main bedroom.

Traffic crackdown
SIXTY-FOUR police officers took part in a crime crackdown in the Nicosia district on Friday night.
During the operation, in Geri village between 7pm and 9.45pm, officers charged 19 motorists with driving motorbikes without a helmet, using unsuitable silencers, driving without registration plates and other offences.

Another charge involved selling alcohol without a licence and two motorbikes were confiscated from a home for not having registration numbers and because attempts had been made to change their chassis numbers, police said.
