Hooded men in armed raid on McDonald’s

POLICE have unleashed a manhunt after a McDonald’s outlet in Nicosia was yesterday robbed of some £20,000.
The heist was carried out around 4am by two hooded men, who walked into the restaurant, holding the employees at gunpoint. The employees were then forced to enter a storeroom and locked inside, as the two suspects broke into the safe and collected the proceeds of the last three days.

The employees managed to break out of the storeroom 20 minutes later, and immediately notified the police, who began a search for the robbers based on witnesses’ descriptions.

According to the police spokesman, one of the men was carrying a pistol and a knife, while the other was also holding a knife. Witnesses said one of the men spoke in broken Greek. The perpetrators were approximately 1.70m to 1.75m tall; one was wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers, while the other was wearing jeans.
The busy McDonald’s outlet in Engomi is one of the largest on the island.

Police are urging the public to come forth with any information on the robbers; anyone with information can call 1460 toll-free.
