Thieves break in to Justice Minister’s holiday home

POLICE were yesterday looking for burglars who broke into Justice Minister Doros Theodorou’s holiday home in Moniatis on Sunday night.
Police said among the items taken from the unguarded house were a bottle of whisky, a carton of cigarettes, a number of small ornaments, several pieces of jewellery and frozen food.

The break-in was noticed by the Theodorou’s brother-in-law, Stelios Vassiliou, when he called at the house yesterday to water the garden.
Vassiliou said he found the back door to the house open, after which he called the police and alerted them to the burglary.

Limassol CID said investigations showed the burglars had entered the house by breaking a balcony door. The thieves are reported to have left DNA traces at the scene of the crime.

Limassol Police Chief George Papageorgiou said the manner of the break-in resembled two other recent burglaries in the area.
The burglars are believed to be foreigners, who resorted to the break-in after they ran out of food and money.
