Cabaret owners arrested for allowing in minors

THE OWNERS of two cabarets and a nightclub have been detained on suspicion of allowing minors into their Nicosia establishments, police said yesterday.
All three were charged and released.
The three were arrested between 11.30pm on Friday and 3am yesterday following police raids on 21 cabarets and two nightclubs.
Police said two minors were found in two cabarets, while three more were found in a nightclub.
The owners were arrested, while the two youths found in the cabarets were quizzed in the presence of their parents.
Police said that during their visit to the nightclub they noticed that the floor had been covered by a thick layer of foam, which they considered dangerous since it also covered the electrical appliances.
They evacuated the club and notified the fire service, which took pictures of the establishment.
Police have placed the club under guard until the electro-mechanical services complete their investigation.
In Limassol, police arrested three nightclub owners for allegedly playing music in an open area without permission and violating permitted times for operating loudspeakers.
Ayia Napa police yesterday confiscated the speakers of a nightclub because its owner was playing music beyond the specified time.
