SBA police find 32 pot plants

BRITISH Sovereign Bases Area (SBA) police yesterday, acting on a tipoff, said they found 32 potted cannabis plants in the Ouzoum Laxia area of the Bases.

SBA police in Dhekelia said they found the plants hidden in a copse of Acacia trees in the Dhekelia area.

They were unable to provide more information about the find, as it was still under investigation.

The last major drug seizure on the Bases occurred last year, when a joint operation by SBA and Cyprus police netted 30 kilograms of cannabis oil, with an estimated street value of £250,000.

The man convicted of possessing the cannabis oil was given a 14-year jail sentence in Cyprus courts, which had jurisdiction in the case.
